What collector of tobacco lighters would pass up this significant niche in the history of tobacciana? Here is a cute little lighter (fashioned from a solid block of aluminum) which is believed dated back to the 1950's. The lighter measures 2 inches high (closed), 5/8 inch wide, 7/8 inch deep. A top bar (right side) flips up to expose the wick for ignition from the flint wheel (front left). This lighter, aptly named De Lite was manufactured by Slayton and Son of Pasadena, California. As the legend goes, these lighters were made by a one man operation. The maker would, as the story goes, take his lunch breaks at home to manufacture these precious beauties.
